Support Plans of AWS

Amazon Web Services (AWS) offers a variety of support plans designed to meet different needs, from individuals and startups to large enterprises. These plans provide varying levels of support for AWS products and services, including technical support and guidance. As of my last update in April 2023, AWS offers the following main support plans, You can choose from the following Support plans to meet your company’s needs:

  1. Basic Support
  2. Developer Support
  3. Business Support
  4. Enterprise On-Ramp Support
  5. Enterprise Support

1. Basic Support:

  • Cost: Free
  • Features: Customer service and forums, access to documentation, whitepapers, and support communities. It also includes AWS Trusted Advisor access to the 7 core checks and AWS Personal Health Dashboard.
  • Best for: Customers who are just exploring or experimenting with AWS services and do not require immediate technical support.

2. Developer Support:

  • Cost: Starts at $29 per month or a percentage of your AWS usage, whichever is higher.
  • Features: Email access to technical support during business hours, general guidance in less than 24 hours, and system-impaired responses in less than 12 hours. This plan is suitable for early-stage apps or experiments.
  • Best for: Individuals or startups that are developing or experimenting with AWS services and need a basic level of technical support.

3. Business Support:

  • Cost: Starts at $100 per month or a percentage of your AWS usage, whichever is higher.
  • Features: 24/7 access to technical support via email, chat, and phone. Response times range from less than an hour for production system down issues to less than 24 hours for general guidance. Includes full AWS Trusted Advisor access and support for third-party software.
  • Best for: Businesses running production workloads on AWS that require 24/7 access to technical support and faster response times.

4. Enterprise On-Ramp Support:

  • Cost: Pricing for the Enterprise On-Ramp plan typically starts at a lower threshold than the Enterprise plan, making it more accessible to a broader range of businesses. The cost is based on a percentage of your AWS usage.
  • Feature:
    • Technical Support: 24/7 access to technical support via email, chat, and phone. It offers faster response times than the Business support plan for critical issues.
    • Technical Account Manager (TAM): Unlike the Business plan, the Enterprise On-Ramp plan provides access to a Technical Account Manager, although the access might be more limited compared to the full Enterprise plan. The TAM offers guidance, best practices, and advice tailored to your specific needs.
    • Infrastructure Event Management: This plan includes support for planning and overseeing events such as product launches or marketing campaigns to ensure AWS infrastructure can handle the expected demand.
    • AWS Trusted Advisor and Personal Health Dashboard: Full access to AWS Trusted Advisor for best practices and optimization recommendations and the AWS Personal Health Dashboard for a personalized view of the health of AWS services and alerts.
  • Best For: The Enterprise On-Ramp support plan is best suited for organizations that are in a growth phase and require more support than the Business plan offers, especially those that can benefit from having a TAM but do not yet need the full array of services and the highest level of commitment offered by the full Enterprise plan.

5. Enterprise Support:

  • Cost: Starts at $15,000 per month or a percentage of your AWS usage, whichever is higher.
  • Features: All the benefits of Business Support, plus a dedicated Technical Account Manager (TAM), Infrastructure Event Management, and the fastest response times for critical issues (less than 15 minutes). It offers the most comprehensive and personalized support.
  • Best for: Large enterprises or businesses with critical workloads on AWS that require the highest level of technical support, guidance, and service management.
AWS also provides specialized support services like AWS IQ for customers looking to hire AWS-certified freelance experts for project work.

Cloud computing

Cloud computing is a technology model that enables access to a shared pool of computing resources and services over the Internet. Instead of owning and maintaining physical servers and data centers, organizations can use cloud computing services provided by cloud service providers. These services include computing power, storage, databases, networking, software, and more. Cloud computing services can be categorized into several main models: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS): IaaS provides virtualized computing resources over the Internet. Users can rent virtual machines, storage, and networking components, allowing them to run and manage their operating systems and applications. Platform as a Service (PaaS): PaaS offers a platform that includes the underlying infrastructure, development tools, and services to build, deploy, and manage applications. Users focus on coding and application development while the platform handles the underlying infrastructure. Software as a Service ...

AWS Free Tier

The AWS Free Tier is designed to give you hands-on experience with a range of Amazon Web Services (AWS) products and services without charging you for usage up to a specific limit. This tier primarily benefits new AWS customers, allowing them to try different AWS services and gain practical experience before committing to more extensive usage. The Free Tier includes offers that are available for 12 months following your AWS sign-up date, as well as offers that are always free. Here are the main components of the AWS Free Tier: 12-Months Free: These offers are available to new AWS customers and are valid for 12 months following your AWS sign-up date. After the 12-month free usage term, you pay standard, pay-as-you-go service rates. Always Free: These offers do not expire and are available to all AWS customers. They provide limited access to a range of AWS services for free forever. However, the usage limits reset monthly. Trials: Short-term trial offers start when you activate a part...
